iPod to Computer Transfer Software Analysis and Observations

Copyright (c) 2009 Chuck Matthews

Are you looking for full-featured and easy-to-use software that will allow you to upload music, videos, pictures and podcasts from your iPod to iTunes quickly and easily? If so, it is important to remember that all iPod data transfer software on the market today does this however many products do not allow you to upload data from your computer to your iPod or iPhone, or support the most recent iPod and iPhone models. These particular features seem to be a dividing line of sorts between the less expensive and more expensive products out there, namely that the less expensive mono- transfer capability products and the slightly more expensive products that support dual computer to iPod and iPod to computer data transfer and support all iPod and iPhone models. The following is a brief summary of user experiences and general analysis of some of the more popular iPod transfer software offerings currently available for purchase.

1. iPod to Computer Transfer 5.3: iPod to Computer Transfer performs the data transfer from your iPod to your computer seamlessly for music and videos although some users have reported problems with transferring games. Other users feel that the upgrade process is not clearly discernable and some have reservations about the look and feel of the software itself, but all in all, iPod to Computer Transfer 5.3 performs the tasks it claims to do efficiently, and is priced in the 20 dollar category of iPod one-way transfer software offerings, although it is unclear if all data can be transferred with this software, not just music and videos. This product has a free trial download available on cnet and zdnet or on their website.

2. MediaWidget Easy iPod Transfer 4.0.16: MediaWidget is one of these iPod transfer software products in the 25 dollar range that has dual iPod to computer and computer to iPod transfer capability. According to users, MediaWidget excels with an intelligently organized and comprehensive array of features, although some would like to have more tutorials available to learn how to use all these features!

MediaWidget gets great reviews for its ability to perform dual transfer tasks seamlessly and for its attractive design, although one user did report having problems with transferring playlists in lieu of individual songs, although other users reported being able to transfer playlists without incident. All in all, MediaWidget gets rave reviews for its full-featured functionality and easy-to-use layout. MediaWidget would be a good fit for the iPod or iPhone user who has experience in using this kind of software and is looking for a more comprehensive iPod software transfer utility. A free trial download is available for this product on the Bootstrap Development website or on cNet or ZDnet, among others.

4. 4Media iPod to PC Transfer 2.1.33.0522: 4Media iPod to PC Transfer is priced in the 25 dollar range like MediaWidget and iPod Rip but interestingly enough does not have dual transfer capability like those products do and is therefore questionable how the price can be justified without this added functionality. However, users report that this software does what it says it can do with relatively few problems. It also has a free trial download available on the 4Media website or on the major software download sites.

5. Tansee iPod Transfer 3.3: Tansee iPod Transfer is competitively priced in the 20 dollar range with similar iPod to computer transfer only software products in this category. This particular product above all others reviewed here received numerous complaints about mainly two things: first, many users reported that this product does not install properly or crashes when being installed on a second iPod or iPhone and second, their customer service left much to be desired as far as finding a solution to a problem is concerned.

Other users reported that it could not transfer meta data such as volume adjustments, manual song titles and playlists – just individual songs and videos only. In sum, given the numerous yet-to-be-resolved issues with this product, it is recommended that you at least compare other products by using the free trial download before purchasing this one.

6. iPod Robot iPod to Computer Transfer 4.5: iPod Robot iPod to Computer Transfer software is priced in the 20 dollar range and offers single transfer capability along with similarly priced competing products out there. Many users report liking the clean and crisp layout of the software and say that this software does what it says it can do without incident. In sum, its our feeling that this product is a solid choice for the more entry-level user who is looking for a quick, easy and more cost-effective way to transfer data from their iPod to iTunes. The only limitation we could find was that there is a 7 day trial download only – available o n the iPodRobot website or on the major software download sites.

7. iPodAid iPod To Computer Transfer 5.7.2: iPodAid iPod To Computer Transfer is another one of these more basic features offerings that is priced at the lower end of the spectrum at around 20 dollars. It has a somewhat hard to read user interface with grey text over a black background. Users have indicated that the trial version, available for download on the major software download sites as well as the iPod Aid website, only allows you to transfer one song before requiring you to upgrade to the paid “Pro” version – beware! 8. iPod to computer copy 2.3: iPod to computer copy, the highest priced product on this list at 30 dollars, is a stretch considering that it only supports single iPod to computer data transfer. Users consider the software to perform capably with regard to transferring all types of files, however. It also has a free trial download available on the Tansee website and other major software download sites.

9. Cucusoft iPod/iPhone/iTouch to Computer Transfer: This is another full-featured offering with dual transfer capability and supporting all iPod and iPhone models. It is also the highest-priced product reviewed here at around 30 dollars. Most users report liking the full-featured functionality of this product, namely photo transfer, multiple languages (English, Spanish, Deutsch, Japanese, Chinese and more) and auto-search functionality. Ease of use is also among the accolades. All in all, this product has as much functionality as any of the other full-featured offerings reviewed here: MediaWidget , Anapod Explorer and iPod Rip, but is priced in the 30 dollar range along with Anapod Explorer.

10. Red Chair Anapod Explorer Universal Edition: As mentioned above in the Cucusoft review, the Anapod Explorer Universal Edition has dual-transfer and playlist and photo transfer capability and works with all iPod models There are also 4 other iPod model-specific versions of this software available: the iPod Shuffle Edition, iPod Nano Edition and iPod Mini Edition which work for their particular models only, however there is no iPhone support for any of these versions.

Users like the easy to use drag and drop interface, free lifetime upgrades and multiple devices support although there are mixed reviews about how responsive and effective their tech support is. Others have reservations about the instillation process as you first need to buy the software, download and install the program, click a link to send in an electronic token and then click on the installation code link in an email that will let you fully activate the product. There is also no Mac version for this software, interestingly enough. The bottom line for Anapod Explorer Universal Edition is that it performs all iPod data transfer tasks capably but has no iPhone support and at 30 dollars is a little pricey given the deficiencies.

Taking advantage of the free trial downloads that most of the iPod to computer software manufacturers offer on the above software download websites is a great way to help you decide which iPod transfer software is right for you. However, it is important to remember that if you elect to purchase one of the iPod to computer software offerings with features such as the ability to upload data to your iPod or iPhone from your computer, multi-model and computer functionality and multiple file format transfer capability means you may lose your iPod data altogether in the case of loss, theft or an operating system reinstall or find that your software does little more than the free iTunes can.

Or in other words, you may eventually find the need to purchase a more full-featured iPod to computer data transfer software package that has this functionality. Upon closer examination, it’s our view that it is well worth the extra few dollars to have this added functionality, both as a safeguard to your iPod data as well as the ability to transfer data between multiple iPods and iPhones. Remember to consider the full spectrum of functionality and ease of use for the money when considering an ipod data transfer software purchase!

Are you looking for full-featured and easy-to-use software that will allow you to upload data from your iPod to iTunes quickly and easily? If so, remember that any product on the market today does this but many do not support computer to iPod transfer, or support the most recent models. These features seem to be a dividing line of sorts between the more and less expensive products.

12 Strategies for Effective Email Marketing Campaigns

Copyright (c) 2009 Chuck Matthews

Most people do not send effective email messages. I know. I spend a lot of time analyzing email messages for our clients, and measuring and tracking their effectiveness.

Whether you send large email newsletters or just use email to communicate with friends, colleagues and customers, following these twelve strategies will make your email more effective. So, here’s my list, compiled and crafted from years of experience and quantitative analysis of tens of millions of messages we’ve sent out for our clients:

1. One Main Message Per Email:

The most effective email messages have one main idea or concept. I spent a summer as an intern at the White House, helping to read and answer the mail. The writing staff taught that the strongest messages were ones that didn’t distract people with extraneous information. Before you start writing a message, write down what you’re trying to communicate. Or at least think about your message before you start writing.

The most effective messages are ones that are crisp, clear and concise.

2. Keep it Short:

If you’re like me, the phone rings off the hook, people walk over to your desk to ask you a question, and other people are instant messaging you. And then your cell phone starts ringing. It’s enough to make anyone a bit crazy and give you Attention Deficit Disorder. Our collective attention spans are very short. People simply have too many distractions to wade through a really long email.

You might think they need all of the information. But when people are faced with dense blocks of text, many people’s eyes glaze over. And then they ignore the entire message. And thus, the most effective email messages are short. Two or three short sentences in length. Perhaps a couple of bullet points. And perhaps the short message is followed by supporting material, an attachment or a link to more information on a website. Enough said. I’ll try to keep this section short.

3. Keep it Relevant:

I believe that attention is the most important asset of any business or organization. What do I mean by this? If your messages are relevant, your recipients will pay attention to what you are trying to say. If you send email that isn’t relevant — they will quickly stop paying attention to your messages.

It’s easy to get into a mentality where you want to send everything to everyone. And with email newsletters or mass broadcasts, it’s not that expensive to do. However, once someone feels your messages aren’t that important, they will simply stop reading them.

4. Reply Early & Reply Often:

With the huge volume of spam, it’s tough to know if your message got through. Right now, four out of every five emails sent over the Internet today is spam. With so much junk, it’s easy for your message to get lost, trapped in a junk mail filter, or simply piled up in someone’s ever-expanding inbox. So you start to worry when you haven’t heard back from someone that you emailed a couple of days ago. Hmmmm, you say. Did that person get my message? Should I send it again? If I do, will that bug them? Am I being too pushy?

So when you’re on the other side of the email message, it’s really important to reply early and reply often. What you’re doing is letting them know you (a) received the message and (b) that you care.

5. From Line:

The single most important part of an email message is the From line. If the person you’re sending to doesn’t recognize your name, your message will be at best skipped over. At worst, it will be simply deleted without opening. Most email programs show a friendly display name instead of the plain email address.

The From line of your email (friendly display name) should have your full name and organization in it. The culprit is that many people have only their first names listed in the friendly From display line. Most of the time the messages aren’t too racy, but with email programs that automatically fill in an email address when you start to type a first name, it’s easy to email the wrong person something that could be seriously career limiting.

6. Subject Line:

After the From line, the subject line is the second most important part of an effective email. If you forget to include a subject line, your message is much more likely to go into a junk mail folder, or just not be opened.

Email marketing professionals live and die by subject lines. A good subject line will sum up what the message is all about, but still entice someone to open the message, read it, and take action. Including the company name in the subject line can increase open rates by up to 32 percent to 60 percent over a subject line without branding. (Jupiter Research)

7. Personalize Each Message:

Except when being called into the principal’s office, everyone likes being called by their name. In this impersonal world of email messages, people like to know that you know who they are, and that you care about them as a person.

Nothing is worse than a highly demanding email that is sent without being addressed to someone by name and is out of context. I’m much more willing to help someone who personalizes the message to me, and gives me a non-threatening reason why this needs to really be done by tomorrow.

8. Always include your contact information:

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve not returned a call promptly because I didn’t have someone’s contact information readily available. In this age of iPhones, Blackberries and cellphones, it’s rare that I have a phone number memorized. So many people rush through their phone number, making it virtually impossible to write down the number without having to go back and listen to their message a couple of extra times.

Ideally, you should always give your phone number, say it slowly, and repeat it twice so that someone can write it down and then make sure it’s correct. Effective emails always include a signature line with contact information. You should include your contact information in every new message or every message you reply to.

9. Strong Call to Action:

In direct marketing or email correspondence, most of the time you want someone to take a specific action when they receive your message. The most effective email messages always have a strong call to action, telling the recipient what you want them to do.

Email is a low context medium. It doesn’t transmit behavioral clues like voice inflection that might otherwise indicate what you want a person to do. So it’s important to be direct and ask what you want the other person to do. It sounds basic, but it’s a key to effective email.

10. Paste Links & Get on the Same Page:

How many times have you felt that the person receiving your email just isn’t on the same page as you? A lot of times it’s literally true. You might be thinking that they are looking at one page on a website, when in fact they are looking at something completely different.

I know I’ve been frustrated by this in the past. Simple pasting a link into an email is the best strategy. Again, it seems simple, but it can mean the difference between confusion and clarity. Sending someone the exact link to the website page you are discussing gets everyone on the same page.

11. Use Folders & Filters:

If you’re like me and you receive a lot of email, you can use folders to store messages from different people or clients. In most email programs, you can set up automatic rules (often called filters) that will place all messages from Joe into a specific folder. That way you can review all of the messages Joe sends over to you, reply to the ones that need attention, and not have to spend the time moving the messages from the inbox to another folder when you’re finished.

This one strategy has made me amazingly more efficient at dealing with the large volume of email I receive each day (usually about 950 messages per day).

12. Know when email doesn’t work:

Pick up the phone instead… Email remains one of the primary ways that businesses communicate internally among their staff, and externally with their customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. However, make sure you recognize when email is losing its effectiveness.

It’s easy to hide behind email when we don’t want to speak to a scary client or team member. I’ve been guilty of that as well when I have a million things going on. But sometimes a three minute conversation can clear up the confusion inherent in five days of back-and-forth email messages.

Most people do not send effective email messages. I know. I spend a lot of time analyzing email messages for clients, and measuring and tracking their effectiveness. Whether you send large email newsletters or just use email to communicate with friends, colleagues and customers, following these strategies will make your email more effective. So, here’s my list, compiled and crafted from years of experience and analysis of millions of messages.

How to Determine Premium Steaks From Chuck Steaks

Cooking the perfect steak isn’t just about when and how to apply heat. You have to start off with a premium steak if you want to end up with one after it’s cooked. But how do you tell great premium steaks from chuck? After all, there are plenty of different cuts of meat that can be referred to as steak, and they’re not all created equal. Here’s a look at some of the most popular premium steaks and the best ways to choose and cook them.

Ribeye is one of the most popular premium steaks on the market because of its natural tenderness and marbling. When you cook this steak, the marbled fat contributes a rich flavor to the beef. Look for boneless ribeyes at about ten ounces, or bone-in ribeye, called cowboy rib, at about twenty-three ounces. The bone can keep the steak from drying out, but may also make cooking more complex. This might also be called prime rib, scotch filet and delmonico steak, but it’s all the same tender meat.

Filet is considered the best from a chef’s perspective for its tenderness, but it’s also one of the most expensive cuts. It’s low fat when trimmed correctly, and is best suited to hot pan cooking. Look for filets that are six to eight ounces. They might also be labeled beef medallions, tenderloin, chateaubriand, filet mignon and tournedos.

Sirloin is one of the cheapest premium steaks, and is long and thin, with fat across the top in a strip. It’s full flavor makes it very popular, but the meat may be tough. This means tenderizing and marinating before cooking are good choices. The better the aging and the slower the cooking, the less tough the sirloin will be. Top sirloin is generally more tender than the larger bottom sirloin, as well.

T-Bone steaks, also called club steaks, short loin or porterhouse (when larger and thicker) are steaks that include a T shaped bone with meat on either side. The larger side is quite tender, and is made of meat from the striploin, but the smaller side is tenderloin, and is even more tender. Because of the heat conduction from the bone, you’ll find that small T-bones cook faster than boneless steaks. The flavor is rich, and the steak rather expensive, but this premium steak is a popular choice on the barbecue.

Rump steaks are the cheapest out of all the different premium steaks, and are also referred to as round steaks. This lean cut requires tenderizing or marinating to reduce its toughness, but it’s excellent as a budget choice for those who still want premium steak. Try one, but cook it carefully to get the fullest flavor without toughness.

iPod to Computer Transfer Software: A Comparison Shopping Analysis

Copyright (c) 2009 Chuck Matthews

Are you looking for full-featured and easy-to-use software that will allow you to upload your iPod music, videos, pictures and podcasts from your iPod to iTunes quickly and easily? If so, it is important to remember that any iPod data transfer software offerings on the market today do this relatively quickly. However upon closer examination there are key differences are in the ancillary features that allow you to backup data, transfer data from your computer to iPod or iPhone (which means you can also transfer music from one iPod to another via your computer), and have a menu that is easy to learn and use. Many popular iPod to iTunes/computer software packages fall short in these areas, most notably in the lack of computer to iPod or iPhone data transfer capability – a critically important feature if a mishap to your iPod or iPhone should occur and you lose the data, or you are doing a computer operating system reinstall and need to readd your music playlists and other data. 4Videosoft iPod to Computer Transfer 3.1.08, iPod to Computer Sender 1.2.2.3150, iPodRobot 4.5, 3herosoft iPod to Computer Transfer 3.0.5.0208, iPod to Computer Transfer 5.3, Music Liberator 5.4 and iPod video/audio to computer 2.3 are just a few of the many iPod data transfer software products that fall into this category. However, there are a few companies offering full featured software packages that allow you copy, sync, back up, and restore your iPod, iTouch, and iPhone files both to and from your computer. Two of the leading full-featured iPod to iTunes/computer software packages on the market today are MediaWidget Easy iPod Transfer 4.0.16 from Bootstrap Development and 4Videosoft iPod Manager 3.1.08 from 4Videosoft Studio. Both of these full-featured iPod to iTunes/computer software packages offer iPod and iPhone to and from computer/iTunes data transfer capability, and are equally priced at $24.99. The key difference between these 2 software packages lies in the user interface and overall ease of use, where MediaWidget 4.0.16 excels with a more intelligently organized and comprehensive array of features. In the end, Bootstrap Development’s MediaWidget offers a larger array of features, better performance and the greatest ease of use over all other iPod to computer data transfer software packages. It is also competitively priced and has a free trial download available on the Bootstrap Development website or on the major software download websites such as Tucows, Top Downloads, Cnet and ZDnet among others.

Taking advantage of the free trial downloads is an important part in determining which software is right for you. However, it’s important to note that in electing to purchase iPod to computer software that does not include the ability to upload data to your iPod or iPhone from your computer. Software that does not support both iPod to computer and computer to iPod data transfer opens up the risk of losing your iPod data altogether in the case of loss, theft or operating system reinstall. Or in other words, you may eventually need to purchase a different iPod data software package that supports dual iPod to computer and computer to iPod data transfer if you want to upload data to your new or repaired iPod or iPhone. When shopping for software that allows you to upload data to your computer, it is important to remember that all software packages can upload data from your iPod to your computer but many do not include the ability to upload data back to your iPod or iPhone from your computer. Upon closer examination, it’s our view that it is well worth the extra $5 to have this added functionality, both as a safeguard to your iPod data as well as the ability to transfer data between multiple iPods and iPhones. Remember that not all iPod to computer software is created equal!

When comparing iPod data transfer software packages, its important to remember that all software packages can transfer data from your iPod to your computer but many do not include the ability to transfer data from your computer to iPod. Its important to consider software with this dual data transfer ability, both as a safeguard to your data and to transfer data between multiple iPods.

Fighting a DUi Charge in Colorado

Copyright (c) 2009 Chuck Matthews

In Boulder County, Colorado there are on average more than 1,500 people are arrested each year and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI). According to Colorado law, Driving Under the Influence means that the amount of alcohol in your system, or Blood Alcohol Content, or BAC, was .08 or more at the time you were driving and Driving While Ability Impaired means that the amount of alcohol in your system was .05 or greater at the time you were driving.

In court, the Boulder County district attorney must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you’re driving was impaired to the slightest degree, and there are a number of factors that the Boulder D.A.’s Office can use to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you are guilty as charged. Some of these factors include the reason why you were stopped, your actions and overall behavior while stopped, how well you perform the field sobriety tests and if you show signs of intoxication or not and finally, what the results of the field sobriety test were.

Consequently, it’s important to be aware of the above factors and what to do if you are pulled over and/or arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Here are some important things to remember in case you are pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving:

1. Find a safe place to pull over and get off the road safely and quickly. Remember that, as soon as the police officer decides to pull you over for drunk driving (DUI/DWI), he starts making observations that he will put in the police report. This document can have a lsignificant impact on the outcome of both your criminal trial and your DMV drivers license hearing. One of the first things the officer does is make a mental note of how you pull over. If you drive erratically, slow down too abruptly, or pull over in an unsafe location, the officer notes it in the report.

2. Stay inside the car and don’t make any sudden movements. Officers are trained to be cautious, and to protect themselves, first and foremost. They always approach the car from behind so they have a clear view, and so the driver would have to turn completely around in order to shoot or attack them. So, don’t make any sudden movements and keep your hands on the steering wheel.

3. Be polite – don’t flunk the “personality test”. The obvious reason to treat the officer respectfully is that you are far less likely to be arrested. If you’re rude or hostile, the officer is more likely do everything possible to get you convicted, including writing a very incriminating police report. If the officer asks you to step out of the vehicle, you must comply, otherwise you could be charged with resisting arrest.

4. Don’t answer any potentially incriminating questions, and don’t lie. The anxiety of getting pulled over often causes people to incriminate themselves. Police are well aware of this and routinely ask questions leading you to incriminate yourself. You do have to give your name, license and registration to the police officer, but if the officer asks you “How much have you had to drink?” or “How do you feel?” say something to the effect of, “I’m sorry officer, but I’ve been advised not to answer any more questions until I speak to my attorney.”

5. Refuse field sobriety and hand-held breathalyzer tests, but take the breath test at the police station. You are under no legal obligation to perform a field sobriety test or a roadside breathalyzer test, and it is highly recommended that you refuse to take either of these tests, as they are highly subjective and can be easily skewed to bolster the case against you and in favor of the prosecution.

In contrast to the optional field sobriety and roadside breathalyzer tests, you are obligated by law to take a breath or chemical test at the police station. It is recommended that you choose to take the breath tests because they’re more unreliable, and thus their validity can be more effectively challenged in court. On the other hand, refusing a breath or chemical test can be used as evidence of an implied admission of guilt, resulting in a DUI or DWAI conviction and /or drivers license suspension.

6. Once you’ve been released, write down everything that you can remember about the night. The more notes you take about your arrest, the easier it will be for your attorney to fight the charges against you. Include in your notes things like the following.

- what you were doing and where you were doing before you drove – where/when you were pulled over, and if you were read your Miranda rights – how much you had to drink – what test(s) you took (field sobriety and/or breathalyzer, breath test at the police station) – how much time passed after you were arrested – how the officer behaved, any instructions he gave you – what you said to the officer

Write down every detail that you can think of, even if it doesn’t strike you as relevant.

7. Contact an experienced DUI attorney. If you have been arrested and charged with a DUI or DWAI in Boulder County, the single most important thing you can do for yourself is to find a qualified Colorado DUI attorney practicing in Boulder County who has at least 10 years experience, a thorough understanding of both Colorado DUI law and the Boulder Country court system and a good working relationship with the Boulder County DA’s Office, since most DUI cases are resolved without going to trial. You need a DUI attorney that who understands and can think like the prosecution so that they are able to communicate and work with each other effectively.

The consequences of a DUI conviction can be a permanent detriment to your quality of life in a wide variety of ways so it’s extremely important to choose your DUI defense attorney carefully! Look for a DUI attorney that has at least ten years experience, has excellent communication skills, is a good listener, and has a solid working relationship with the Boulder County DA’s Office. Such a DUI Attorney is most likely going to broker an optimal resolution to your DUI case.

In Boulder County, Colorado there are more than 1,500 people are arrested each year and charged with a DUI or DWAI. In court, the DA must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you’re driving was impaired, so its important that you know your rights if you are pulled over. This article discusses what to do if you are pulled over for drunk driving and how to choose a DUI attorney. http://philclarklaw.com/boulder-dui-defense-attorney-lawyer.html

MLM Frustration – How To Connect With Prospects

Have your ever had this happen on the phone? You call a lead about your MLM business and instead of you sharing the business; the person you called takes over the presentation and interviews you. Each time you answer their question, they bury you with a barrage of questions and then they let you go after they have finished interviewing you. Perhaps this is happening to you right now when you make your calls and you are wondering you need to do to be successful. Have you felt like your ready to throw in the towel because you are so discouraged.

After having read the above, if it sounds familiar to you, then read on because you are not alone. During my first year and a half in my MLM I had no upline that did calls on the phone using Leads. Once a week I would join a conference call and listen in to a leader make his calls. I think I listened in more just to remind myself that calling Leads could be done successfully if you knew how. Despite my religiously attending the calls each week I was unable to see any significant differences in his presentation and my own.

I understood he was skilled and I wasn’t but he was saying the same things as me but he was getting a different result and I could not figure it out. I was almost ready to give up on calling prospects when I met a leader that soon became my mentor and coach. (As a side note it is important to find someone that will provide coaching and give you feedback on your efforts.) I had read my script hundreds of times I could say it in my sleep and I asked him about my results and what advice he could give me. He said Chuck when you talk to a prospect speak from the heart.

Figuring this out so I asked if I could listen in as he made a few calls and he said sure. He dialled the first number and a woman answered and he spoke to her like they were long lost friends. I mean he was as warm to her as if she was family. This “familiar presentation” really jumped out at me I had always called prospects and chatted to them as though they were strangers – because they were. My coach said that it was not the words it was the level of connection I was able to create that would mean the most in my calls.

As I look back and chuckle now at the way I spoke to prospects. At times I would call and sound like a News Reporter or perhaps a Radio Announcer like the star on that TV show WKRP in Cincinnati. I had a whole menu of voices to use and totally overlooked the best one, my own. I had to learn to speak to strangers as though we were best friends. Once I started doing this I started to have significant success. Folks want to do business with people they know like and trust and in the beginning I did not sound a like a person they would trust. Zig Ziglar said that he doesn’t call strangers, only friends he hasn’t met yet.
Speak with warmth and from the heart. Make it your mission to call friends you haven’t met yet and your frustration connecting with your contacts in your MLM business will fade away.

My Magic Multilevel Marketing Recruiter’s Wand

Do you ever feel like people just don’t see how incredible your opportunity is and no matter what you do they just don’t get it?

When I first began MLM I got excited about my business and after composing my list (with the help of my company’s employee list – please don’t do this as your boss might get upset and fire you for calling his employees) I set out to sell the world. I was reluctant to do any kind of Multilevel Marketing because they don’t work and everyone knows this to be a fact. Once I became convinced that this was just another Urban Myth I began to get very consumed with the idea of being a success. I talked about it all the time and every conversation ended up with me talking about my MLM.

My excitement was off the scale and for some reason people were starting to avoid me. Even my own family were starting to duck my calls or were very distant when we would chat. There is more to life that success and “Money” is not the most important thing in life though I believe it is right up there with “Air”. I found myself feeling very frustrated that the people I respected didn’t see what I did in my Network Marketing business. I was mystified! why would smart people not want to get in on this.

My MLM coach was excited with my intial results but I wasn’t I wanted everyone I knew andf cared about to join and most just plain out right refused me. My coach said not to worry about the ones that would not join and he used to say “Chuck it’s like this – some will, some won’t , so what, some one is waiting.” He suggested I make every effort to find out information on my prospects that would tell me why they would want to earn more money. He said we all do things for different reasons and people would nort join with me becasue of my reasons, it had to be theirs.

He said find out a person’s “WHY” and then show them how you will help them get it. He suggested I tell my prospect to imagine that I have a magic wand pencil and that when I wave it in front of him he will have his life change in two years to be exactly as he wants it to look. Then get my prospect to share what that future would look like. Then ask my prospect “If I was willing to work with you for the next 2 years and help you get that future would you be coachable and do the work I ask?”

When the lead says yes, it is because you have focused on their needs and they are now asking you to help them, instead of you trying to push them into joining your Multilevel Marketing business.

“Hey, I Object!” Learn How To Overcome Objections With MLM Help

When people are new to network marketing the idea of receiving an objection during a presentation can cause sheer terror. From birth we all hunger for approval and love and will do almost anything to avoid rejection. As young children the word no often had very severe consequences when we failed to comply. So when you pair the word no with pain enough times the word no means pain. When we ask for the order or for the person to join our business we risk receiving that terror causing word “No” and this may leave us feeling hurt .

I recall my first few years in marketing and they bring back memories of having sweaty palms and a trembling voice. If I asked the person to join my business and they said no it typically left me feeling discouraged. At times I felt like perhaps I was not cut out to be a marketer though I desperately wanted to be. After making several hundred phone calls and presentations I found out that you cannot say it wrong to the right person or right enough to the wrong person. By helping them get into my business I was doing my prospect a favor, because I was giving her an opportunity to create extra income for her family.

I eventually realized that I was not supposed to be selling, just sorting. I was only looking for the people were interested in creating a secondary income or replacing their existing one. Once I came to terms with this, my marketing efforts became far less stressful and far more profitable. Often times a prospect will listen to a business presentation and then raise an objection but it did not always mean no. My coach told me that my job was to identify my prospect’s “why” and then present my solution. He said that when I got an objection I needed to find out why the prospect was objecting. I needed to uncover the source of their fear or concern and then respond to it.

Throughout history there has always existed thievery and deception. When a person would say, “I’ve never heard of your company. ” my knee-jerk reaction was to become defensive. I automatically took that comment as an indication they did not want to work with me or join my business. I learned over time that sometimes when people say they’ve never heard of your company, what they’re really saying is that never heard of your company and they have no hidden agenda. One very simple way to respond to an objection is to echo their objection back to them eg. when my prospect would say that’s a lot of money to join, I would reply “you think that’s a lot of money to join?” and then they would explain themselves what they meant. Doing this took the focus off of me and put the focus on them and rather than assuming what their concern was I was able to get them to tell me what it was.

What I learned was that when I was calling prospects about my business they were just as nervous as I was. It is a well documented fact that people prefer to do business with individuals that they know, like and trust. When I first began marketing and the prospect told me that they want to think about what I had shared with them, I believe them. What I learned over time was that what my prospect was really saying is that I had not given them enough reason to move forward.

I learned that the easiest way to respond to this protestis to follow up with:”When you say you want to think about it, what is it specifically that you feel you need to think more about. It sounds to me like you still have some questions that you need answered.” In a book called the One Minute Millionaire written by Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen a reference was made to the fact that most people cannot handle their first rejection in sales and as a result never become wealthy. When water is heated to 211° very little happens but a 212° the water begins to boil. You may be only one honest answer away from closing a deal but you will never know if you don’t risk hearing the word no. Zig Ziegler said that if you help enough people get what they want you’ll get everything that you want.

My coach said Chuck some will, some won’t, but it’s okay someone’s waiting. Another one of my mentors told me that if I was hearing the word no I was talking to the wrong person I needed to talk to the person who would say yes. Remember that each know you receive your getting that much closer to a yes. When you’re told no ask your prospect why they are saying no and stop assuming.

What to do if involved in a car accident: a step-by-step guide

Copyright (c) 2009 Chuck Matthews

If you are ever involved in a motor vehicle accident, the first thing you need to do is contact the police. Colorado state law requires that ALL motor vehicle accidents be reported immediately to the proper law enforcement authorities (42-4-1606 CRS). If there are any injuries at the scene notify the police, and make sure that emergency help is on the way.

What to do if you’re involved in a motor vehicle accident:

1. Move the accident out of traffic, if possible
2. Call the police to report the accident
3. Keep others safe, provide help as needed but don’t move the victims.
4. Get the insurance information, license plate & name of the other parties involved in the accident
5. Take pictures of the vehicles involved, and record any important details
6. Check with your insurance company regarding the coverage of your policy
7. Call an attorney that specializes in accidents involving a motor vehicle, bicycle or pedestrian.

Once the police and ambulance have arrived, a new phase in the process begins. The police will complete an on-the-scene accident report, something that insurance companies require to settle claims. Cooperate with the police in giving them the necessary information, but avoid making self incriminating statements, such as taking blame for the accident. Remember, your comments can be used against you later by the insurance companies!

A traffic accident is defined as unintentional damage or injury caused by a vehicle’s movement, or its payload. Consequently, many important factors will be considered by both sides of the accident in assigning fault to the participants. While your memory is fresh, make notes on the time of the accident, the weather, road and traffic conditions, the speed of the vehicles involved, and how the accident happened. Ask the investigating officer where and how you can obtain a copy of the police report. If possible, try to record any important information involving the accident’s participants such as their name, insurance and drivers license information and any other important personal information. If you have a camera, take photos of the car positions and damage and debris.

After the on-site accident phase has taken place, the legal, and in some cases criminal, phase will begin. If you are involved in an accident driving or involved with a motor vehicle, you need to contact an experienced attorney specializing in car, truck, bus, bicycle or accidents involving a motor vehicle, depending on your situation.

Call an attorney specializing motor vehicle, pedestrian or bike accidents if…
- There’s been a serious injury such as broken bones, potential paralysis, long-term conditions, or anything that requires hospitalization
- There are fatalities at the scene of the accident
- Someone is clearly at fault
- Pedestrians, bicycles or other motor vehicles were involved, or if the accident occurred in a construction area
- An inaccurate police report details you as the one at fault
- Important technical, legal or medical issues are involved
- The limits of your liability insurance are low
- You have no insurance or your insurance company suggests that you did not pay your premium.
- Your insurance company starts acting oddly or involves its own attorney

If you are unsure about contacting an attorney, here are some instances where contacting an attorney might be worthwhile. If you are…

- Seeking advice on the settlement value of a claim and want to know best and worst case outcomes
- Not sure if other insurance (travel, homeowners, etc.) may be available to you for this incident
- Thinking fault may be an issue in this accident
- Suspecting your insurance company may not looking out for your best interests
- Wondering how to handle negotiations with an insurance company
- Unsure about your rights
- Confused about the terms of your insurance policy or other paperwork

Then you will need to contact an attorney specializing in handling cases for the types of accidents with the vehicles and unique situations of your particular accident. Act quickly in finding the right attorney for your particular circumstances involving your motor vehicle accident, as you can be sure that the opposing side of the issue is!

There are usually a number of factors at play in a motor vehicle accident process both at the scene of the accident as well as the ensuing legal process. This article discusses some of the most important steps to take at the scene of a motor vehicle accident as well as the post-accident phase of the process, typically involving attorneys for both the insurance companies as well as personal attorneys.

Does Fear Stop You? How to Get Past It

No matter who you are, you have some amount of fear of “putting yourself out there”. It’s completely natural. Fear of rejection, fear of the unknown. These are basic human responses. You can’t escape them without understanding that they are there.

Now I’m not saying you can completely get rid of these emotions, however you can become aware of them and control them.

See, some folks do not understand that everyone experiences these emotions. Even the hottest pop stars or celebrities have the same problem. The difference is, they are aware of the problem and are able to deal with it because they know it is a natural reaction.

So if they and many others are constantly experiencing these uncomfortable feelings, what then keeps them going out on stage and facing them?

To be successful, probably one of the most important traits to acquire is to face you fears and go for it. Now, perhaps some people have grown up in an environment where they are conditioned to have less than others or are possibly luckily genetically predisposed to experience less of these feelings than others.

So, what then keeps them from hiding and running into a corner curling up into the fetal position? The answer is a “WHY”. A “Big WHY”. Your “big WHY”. If you don’t know what I mean, then let me explain.

Think of a scale. On one side place your fears and one the other lets put your “WHY” (the reason you are doing what you are doing). Obviously we want your “WHY” to outweigh your fears. That is why we need a “Big WHY”.

Have you ever really sat down and figured out why you want the life you do? Perhaps… But have you written these reasons down?

Now take a look at them. Are they all “things” like expensive cars, mansions and other toys? The fact is these “things” are not what is going to make you happy. Merely have a Maserati and huge expensive mansion are not going to make you happy. What you really want is the experience that these things bring to you.

So when we start thinking about experiences rather than “things” it really broadens the spectrum for you to dig deep and figure out what you really want.

What emotions or feeling do you want to experience? What will being successful in your endeavor do to get you closer to them?

What I suggest is sitting down and writing our the feelings and experiences on a piece of paper. Physically writing down your goals have a very powerful effect. It is like taking them from a dream inside your mind and making them real.

When you do this, try to be as detailed as possible. Perhaps write an entire story of what your perfect day would be like. The more detailed you are, the better you will understand your true emotional needs, and when these outweigh your fears, it gives you a huge reason to face your fears and do what needs to be done.

Some may need to be pushed into a corner or hit rock bottom before they take massive action like this. You don’t have to get to that point though. I learned you don’t have to hit rock bottom before you can take action. You can get off at any floor you want to.

This can seem like a big project, and yes it will take a few hours to complete and even be emotionally draining. However, I can guarantee you the time and effort spent will be worth it.

As usual, email me if you need advice or have any questions.

To all of your success!

Are You Wondering Why You Are Not Succeeding in Social Network Marketing?

The hottest trend right now is using social networking to gain some ground in your business. It is what I do. And it is not only for those selling stuff online.

Social networking can be used to create relationships with REAL people and capture prospect and new clients.

Whether you sell Real Estate, Insurance, Financial Planning or Stocks; you can benefit from this very powerful tool.

I have been attempting social networking for a couple of years now. One thing I have come to learn is that it is not something you”dabble” in. You really need to spend time writing blogs, making new friends on Facebook and MySpace, tweeting on twitter and posting in forums. Not to mention writing down your expertise in small articles called ezines for others to find.

I would recommend starting out small and getting used to one thing at a time then you can create a system to where you practically breez through the process.

Perhaps start with Facebook or MySpace. I think Facebook has a little more popularity right now but contrary to popular belief, MySpace is not dead! Use it too. Start adding friends with similar interests or that you think would be in need of your services. Join groups the pertain to your field and most importantly, show everyone that you are an expert! You know what you are talking about. You know more than the average person. Show them your expertise.

Once you get the hang of those types of sites, start a blog. Post valuable content, not fluff, stuff people can really use. This will keep your prospects coming for more and further establish you as an expert.

Now when you start writing a blog people are not going to automatically find it. You are going to have to advertise it and drive traffic towards it. Post a link to it on your MySpace and Facebook. Post it on the walls in the groups your are part of if allowed. Tweet it on Twitter. Put a link to your blog in the signature of your forum posts.

Another excellent thing to do if your blog post is relevant is to copy it into an ezine article and have it posted on some of them. They even have signatures where you can post links either back to your blog or to a lead generation site.

Use social bookmarking sites such as stumble upon and yahoo buzz to promote your blog posts. Comment on other peoples blogs.

One thing however that is frowned upon and not very cool is blatant spamming all of the time. Don’t just post links to your website everywhere. Show people you are a real person. Talk about what is going on in your life.

Just be yourself. Let everything you say come naturally. It does not have to be perfect. You are human. Let people see that in you!

To all of your success!
